The stem axis of the globe valve is perpendicular to the sealing surface of the valve seat. And the valve's stem has a relatively short stroke and a very reliable shut-off action, which makes this valve ideal for medium cut-off or regulating and throttling.
Once open, the valve seat and the sealing surface of the disc wouldn't get in touch. Because of that, the globe valve's sealing surface sustains less mechanical damage.
Most of the valve seats and discs are relatively easy to be repaired or replaced, and there is no need to remove the entire valve from the line when replacing the sealing element, two of which are very favorable for the valve and the pipeline welded together.

Common types of globe valves are the following:

2. Straight-thru globe valve
AS for the straight-through or Y pattern globe valve, the flow channel of the valve and the main flow channel converge into a diagonal, so that the flow state of damage than the conventional globe valve is smaller, so the pressure loss through the valve is also small.
3. Plug type globe valve
This type of globe valve is a variant of the conventional globe valve. In this valve, the valve disc and seat are usually designed on the basis of the plunger principle. The valve flap is polished into a plunger connected to the stem.
