It is necessary to be aware of what the butterfly valves are designed for. Is it used to connect and cut off the pipeline, or to regulate and control the flow and pressure of the medium in the pipeline? If it’s the former purpose, the cutting capacity of the valve should be the first factor to consider, that is its sealing performance. On the premise that the selected material is corrosion resistant, low, medium pressure and normal temperature valves usually choose soft seal, while high pressure and high temperature choose hard seal. If it’s for the latter purpose, the inherent regulation characteristics and the regulation ratio of the butterfly valves should be emphasized when designing.
