An excellent choice for sea water application - Aluminum Bronze

On this page
Aluminium bronzes are most valued for their high strength and superior corrosion resistance. The most common one is Nickel Aluminium Bronze B148 C95800, which is widely used in Gate Valves, Globe Valves, Check Valves, Plug Valves and Butterfly Valves as it is resistant to corrosion in sea water.

The aluminium in the alloy leads to the function of its resistance to corrosion. The aluminum will react with atmospheric oxygen to form a thin but tough surface layer of aluminium oxide, which will act as a barrier to sea water and protect the bronze itself. Thus, the valves can perform well without being corroded by the sea water.
