Sealing Principles and Characteristics of Trunnion Mounted Ball Valves

On this page
The trunnion mounted ball valve is a new generation of high-performance ball valve, which is suitable for long-distance pipelines and general industrial pipelines. Its strength, safety, and harsh environment resistance have been specially considered in the design, and it is suitable for various corrosive and non-corrosive media.

Sealing Principles of Trunnion Mounted Ball Valves
The opening and closing part of the trunnion mounted ball valve is a sphere with two supporting shafts. There is a channel in the middle that is equal to the diameter of the pipe, and there are two floating valve seats on both sides. When the sphere rotates, it does not deviate from the axis of the supporting shaft on the sphere. The supporting shaft is supported by upper and lower sliding bearings, and the valve seat is floating. Under the action of the medium force, it is pushed to the ball to generate contact stress to obtain a reliable seal.

Characteristics of Trunnion Mounted Ball Valves
1. The combined size of the ball and the valve seat is free, so its sealing performance is not affected by temperature and pressure fluctuations in the structure.
2. The medium force of the trunnion mounted ball valve acts on the annular area of the valve seat, and can be controlled by reasonable design.
3. The operating torque of the trunnion mounted ball valve is relatively small.
4. The trunnion mounted ball valve can be designed in full bore and reduced bore, with larger flow capacity and lower flow resistance coefficient.
