In this article, we will talk about the anti-static device of ball valve. During the process of valve operating, the friction between the soft seat and the metal ball will cause static inside the valve body, which could potentially spark and light the fluid if it is flammable, or even lead to an explosion or a fire. That is the reason why we need to have anti-static device of ball valves.
 
In this device, two spring loaded balls are provided between the ball & stem and stem & body, through which the static electricity can be transmitted from the ball to the valve stem and then from the stem to the valve body. This can prevent the accumulation of static inside the valve body.
 
To sum up, the anti-static design of ball valves creates a ground path and ensures an electrical continuity between valve ball, stem, and body.
